Frequently asked questions

When does a student need help?

All students learn differently, and all have different gaps. There are patterns that teachers identify and they are experts in teaching to 30+ different personalities, however, sometimes students need a little extra support.

If a student feels overwhelmed, unsure of what to study in particular and lacking in the appropriate motivation, then we can help.

Students need to to be taught how to learn on their own. We at Projectile Education supply the tools for students to solve their particular problems, such that students become independent of tuition in the long term.

What is the focus of the lessons?

Depending on the particular needs of the student.

Before starting classes, we will have a conversation with the student and family, diagnosing the situation.

The lessons themselves will be planned for the student in mind, with appropriate resources. At GCSE these are written, then sent to the student specifically (hence why the initial meeting is so important, to tailor to their needs). The student and teacher have the same resources, with the teacher able to write on them in view of the student at all times.

Lessons involve bitesize chunks of learning, examples, practice then application to real life problems, and exam style questions.

What results can I expect for the exams?

Fundamentally, the exams are the reposibility of the student. No teacher can promise a certain grade for a student.

However, with the correct support, students will have the ability to analyse a situation, apply a logical framework to solve exam questions and hence will gain self confidence in doing so.

Based off results from the past three years, our students have improved from a minimum of 1 grade to 5 grades within a few months. All students are different, however, all benefit from taking responsibility for their studies and getting support in doing so.
